QuIC joins the EuroHPC JU

The European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) is a new private member of the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). The participation of QuIC will support the addition of quantum-computing capabilities to European supercomputing infrastructures, further bolstering Europe’s world-class HPC ecosystem.

QuIC is composed of more than 140 members, including large companies, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups, investors, and other stakeholders committed to the advancement of the European quantum industry. The pan-European consortium includes several world-leading companies developing software, hardware, and the enabling technologies of quantum computers.

The consortium will join both the Governing Board of the EuroHPC JU and its Research and Innovation Advisory Group (RIAG).

Anders Dam Jensen, the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) Executive Director, said:

Background

The EuroHPC JU is pooling the resources of its public and private members to enable the EU to become a world leader in supercomputing. The private members participate through in-kind and financial contributions.

Currently, the EuroHPC JU members are:

• the European Union (represented by the Commission),
  • Member States and Associated Countries that have chosen to become members of the Joint Undertaking: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.
• representatives from the three participating private partners, the European Technology Platform for High Performance Computing (ETP4HPC), the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) .
