Target audience

Candidates will be considered for the selection phase on the basis of the following formal criteria to be fulfilled by the deadline for applications:

  • Be national of one of the Member States of the EU, Iceland, Lichtenstein or Norway and enjoy full rights as citizens.
  • Degree:
    - a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma;
  • Produce evidence of a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union, preferably English, French or German, and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union to the extent necessary for the performance of his/her duties.
  • Produce the appropriate character references as to their suitability for the performance of duties of the post.
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by applicable laws concerning military service.
  • Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post.

Essential qualifications and experience

  • 3 years of professional experience in positions with tasks closely related to the ones described in section 2 of the vacancy notice, including at least 3 years in R&I in the field of high performance or quantum computing, or in a similar technical area;
  • Scientific or technical knowledge in high performance computing and quantum computing;
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects (financial, technical and/or legal aspects);
  • Strong writing and presentation skills in English, both orally and in writing (C1 level or higher).

Advantageous qualifications and experience

  • PhD (or equivalent research experience) and/or comparable professional experience in industrial R&D in technical domains relevant for the post;
  • Broad knowledge of the European research communities and ecosystem in the relevant fields including academic, applied and industrial research (for example, Quantum Flagship);
  • Broad understanding of the different quantum computing technologies and programming environments;
  • Experience with the scientific peer-review system;
  • Experience with research and innovation funding programmes at the national and international level (e.g. H2020/Horizon Europe, DEP, CEF etc);
  • Experience in organising and chairing meetings and events.
