The Bulgarian Robotics & AI Nexus (BRAIN++) represents a strategic AI initiative between the Bulgarian government and EuroHPC JU which is aimed at establishing Bulgaria as a regional leader in AI innovation. BRAIN++ is an independent initiative lead by Sofia Tech Park (STP) with the support of INSAIT (Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology) and the Bulgarian supercomputer Discoverer’s team, which will contribute their specialized knowledge in AI research and high-performance computing infrastructure once the project is fully operational.
BRAIN++ represents a big step toward creating an advanced AI ecosystem that emphasizes technological sovereignty while addressing critical societal and industrial challenges. The project focuses on transformative areas such as robotics, manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, consumer goods, and large language models (LLMs) tailored for the Bulgarian language. By aligning with Bulgaria's National AI Strategy, BRAIN++ seeks to foster collaboration between academia, industry, and government while driving technological progress across the region. This initiative also underscores Bulgaria's commitment to developing trustworthy AI solutions that comply with EU regulations and promote ethical innovation.
