    Digital Single Market: Europe announces eight sites to host world-class supercomputers

    Eight sites for supercomputing centres have been selected across the EU to host the first European supercomputers. They will support Europe's researchers, industry and businesses in developing new applications in a wide range of areas, from designing medicines and new materials to fighting climate change. The hosting sites for the Precursors to Exascale will be BSC (Spain), CSC (Finland), CINECA (Italy), while Petascale machines will be located in IT4Innovations (Czech Republic), LuxConnect (Luxembourg), University of Minho (Portugal), Maribor (Slovenia) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

    The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking will be established in a few weeks. It will have a dedicated work programme reflecting Europe’s investment priorities on HPC infrastructures and research and innovation for 2019-2020. This work programme will replace the HPC-related calls of the Horizon 2020 work programmes for 2019-2020 and, consequently, all these calls will be cancelled.
